What is Benefit Recovery?
The Benefit Recovery team is responsible for:
Collecting and reviewing reports of suspected fraud
Performing detailed investigations
Calculating and collecting public assistance payments issued in error
Items to report
The Benefit Recovery team reviews all referrals and responds accordingly. Potential fraudulent activity and situations can include, but is not limited to:
Unreported employment and other income
Household composition/living arrangements
Children leaving home
Absent parents living in the home
Recipients of Social Security, Unemployment, Workers Compensation
Insurance settlements
Ownership of real estate, rental properties, vehicles, campers, boats, etc.
Making a report
Community members are encouraged to report suspected abuse of public assistance benefits. When making a report please be as detailed as possible, we will ask for names, addresses, phone numbers and dates. You do not have to give your name when reporting. If you do give your name we will NOT reveal our source of information to the person(s) under investigation.

Ohio Direction Card
If your Ohio Direction card has been lost or stolen, someone has learned your pin number, or there has been an inaccurate transaction made to your account, call customer service immediately at 1-866-386-3071. Food assistance account balance and transaction history can be viewed online at Ohio’s Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT).
